Five Community Leaders Join Wheeler Board of Trustees

Five leaders from the community have been named trustees to the Wheeler Board of Trustees for terms beginning in July, 2021. Board President Alisia St. Florian ’86 announced the names after the vote by members in March. In addition, two current trustees have been named to officer roles. We welcome the following:
Asheesh Advani P’23, P’23, president and CEO of Junior Achievement (JA) Worldwide. Advani holds degrees from The Wharton School and Oxford University, where he was a Commonwealth Scholar. He has two children currently at Wheeler and serves on the Wheeler Advancement Committee.
Valerie Allen P’23, P’27, P’29, a parent of three Wheeler students has degrees in Electrical Engineering from Brown and in Material Science and Engineering from Stanford. She previously served as a global account manager for Motorola, Inc. and is co-chair of the Wheeler Diversity Committee as well as a member of the Racial Equity Task Force at the school.
Kathleen Carney-Godley, M.D., P’09, P’12, P’16 is a graduate of Wellesley College and Yale University School of Medicine. She is the current president of the Rhode Island Dermatology Society and a clinical assistant professor of dermatology at Brown as well as in practice at Dermatology Professionals, Inc. She has been a past Senior Parent Gift Committee chair when each of her three children graduated from Wheeler and with her husband, Rick made the lead gift to build Godley Field at the Wheeler Farm.
Katie Goodfellow P’25 has previously served as president of the board at Friends Academy Dartmouth, MA. She has more than 20 years of experience in corporate communications and is a principal consultant at Causa Scriptor, providing writing services for non-profits. She is a graduate of Northeastern University, where she also taught writing and literature and is a member of the Wheeler Enrollment, Recruitment, and Public Relations Committee.
Constance A. Howes P’01, P’04, with two Wheeler alumni children, is the former president and CEO of Women & Infants Hospital of RI and executive vice president of Women’s Health for Care New England Health System. She is a graduate of Kenyon College and has a JD degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. She is a director of Washington Trust Bancorp, a faculty advisor for the Brown University Master of Science in Healthcare Leadership, and a CASA volunteer advocating for children in state care among the many community associations and organizations she serves.
In addition to these new trustees, current member Jenn Cookke P’20, P’24, P’27 has been named Treasurer, having served as a trustee since 2017. She is principal of F.H. French Company, a real estate services firm, and has degrees from Boston University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Trustee Sandra Smith P’23, P’25, a member of the Board since 2019, has been named Secretary. She leads Brown’s Corporate and Executive Education Program in the School of Professional Studies and has degrees from the University of Toronto and The Wharton School.
