Hamilton Institute at Wheeler: Free Reading Screenings
The Hamilton Institute was founded to spread awareness and expertise about language-based learning differences and ways of teaching children who are diagnosed with them. Members of our faculty have worked to establish an efficient and accurate structure for administering reading assessments. We feel confident that we can observe how your child learns, how they process information, and how they generate content. We will be able to measure their skills with trusted assessments and make observations through our interactions with them.
- Is your child having trouble identifying letters?
- Does your child guess at words when reading?
- Does your child have difficulty spelling?
- Is writing difficult for your child?
- Do you have a family history of learning differences?
Free Reading Screenings: Open to the Public, for Grades K–6
The Hamilton Institute offers free reading screenings to any children in Grades K-6. Assessments are conducted by experts trained in language-based learning differences. Interested families should email hamiltoninstitute@wheelerschool.org to set up an appointment. Screenings are currently being conducted in person or virtually.
What you will receive:
- Assessment of literacy skills (roughly 40-60 minutes)
- Debrief meeting with an expert member of our staff
- Recommendations for the classroom and at home
- Resources curated for parent education and support
This is a screening of your child’s literacy skills and is to be used by you for informational purposes. It is not intended to be, nor should it be interpreted as or relied upon as, a substitute for a diagnostic evaluation.
