By Popular Request Series
The Hamilton Institute has launched a new educational event for caregivers and educators. Titled “By Popular Request,” these presentations and conversations are about topics commonly asked about. The Institute will consider common inquiries and recurring questions to curate educational opportunities and provide some answers for those raising and working with children.

By Popular Request Series: “Executive Function 2.0: What’s Next for Parents Supporting Growing Kids?”
This is Sarah’s 4th time speaking in collaboration with the Institute. She is back (again!) but popular demand! This will be predominantly targeted to parents/caregivers of elementary and middle-grade children, but educators would also find benefits. This event is offered at no cost, thanks to a generous grant from the Nellie Mae Education Foundation, which allows the Hamilton Institute to bring this valuable opportunity to the community free of charge.
- Speaker: Sarah Ward, M.S., CCC/SLP

Presentation Description
If you’ve ever felt like you’re endlessly repeating yourself: “Brush your teeth! Get your shoes! Start your homework!”—this lecture is for you. As children grow, the demands on their executive function skills increase, and many are struggling to keep up, especially after the disruptions of the COVID years. In this session, we’ll explore what’s next for supporting your child’s independence, whether they’re 5 and navigating morning routines or in middle school managing homework.
You’ll gain insight into the relationship between executive function, attention, and language, and why these skills are critical for multitasking, social-emotional development, and academic success. With a focus on practical, real-life strategies, we’ll tackle common challenges, including building effective routines, addressing lagging skills, and fostering independence without enabling dependence.
Whether you’ve heard Sarah Ward before or are new to these concepts, you’ll leave with a concrete plan and actionable tools to help your child thrive.
